Jandowae: High Range DUI, Speeding Offences

Officers from Dalby Highway Patrol Unit have charged a 47-year-old man following an intercept at Jandowae on 21 November.

It will be alleged around 4.30pm, police intercepted a Suburu WRX after it was observed travelling at 131km/h in a 50km zone on Myall Street.

Police conducted a roadside breath test (RBT) using an authorised testing machine where it is alleged the driver recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.158 per cent - more than three times over the legal limit.

His licence was immediately suspended.

The man was charged with one count of high range drink driving and high range speeding.

He is due to appear in the Dalby Magistrates Court on 16 December.

As of 25 November, 282 people have lost their lives on Queensland roads so far this year.

Western Downs Patrol Inspector Deb Harris-Taaffe said there is no excuse for drink driving or speeding.

"Drink driving and speeding are two of the key contributors to serious and fatal traffic crashes in Queensland," Inspector Harris-Taaffe said.

"We will continue to target poor driver behaviour to keep our community safe.

"Road safety is everyone's responsibility. We want motorists to remember that every decision on the road matters and every life lost is one too many."
