Jewellery stores targeted, investigation underway - Western Region

Investigations are underway after jewellery stores in the state's Western Region were targeted at the weekend.

Shortly after 11pm Saturday (3 July 2021), police were called to a business on Summer Street, Orange, after reports entry had been forced to the store.

CCTV footage depicts two men smashing several glass display counters inside the store and taking a large quantity of jewellery.

The two men were driven from the scene in a silver Kia Motor Sportage hatchback, believed to be stolen.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Just before 6.30am yesterday (Sunday 4 July 2021), officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District were called to a shopping centre on Cobra Street, Dubbo, following reports of a ram-raid.

Police attended and found the front doors smashed and a store inside extensively damaged after a vehicle was used to force entry to the shopping centre.

A crime scene was established, and detectives have commenced an investigation with initial investigations suggesting the people involved fled in the same vehicle.

Following inquiries, the Kia Sportage was located in the driveway of a home on Elizabeth Street, Wellington, about 11.30am the same day.

The vehicle was seized and is undergoing forensic analysis.
