Jobs fair in Far North Queensland

A jobs fair in Far North Queensland this Friday will showcase employment opportunities for local job seekers.

The Mareeba Jobs Fair is part of a series of jobs fairs funded under the Coalition Government’s Stronger Transitions package. A total of 11,598 people have attended the jobs fairs to date.

The Mareeba Jobs Fair will bring together job seekers, employers and employment service providers.

The jobs fair will also provide tips for job searching and interview skills, and provide expert assistance to help job seekers with their résumés.

Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations, the Hon Kelly O’Dwyer MP, said "the jobs fair will give people looking for work an opportunity to speak directly with employers and employment service providers."

Member for Leichhardt, Warren Entsch MP, said the government was strongly committed to assisting Far North Queenslanders to secure employment.

"Our Government has created more than one million jobs since coming to office in 2013," Mr Entsch said.

"I know local people are up to the challenge and the jobs fair will help them explore available employment opportunities and pathways.

"Whether you’re looking for work, or you’re an employer looking for staff, this is an opportunity not to be missed."

The North Queensland Employment Facilitator in Cairns, Tamilyn Brennan, will be at the jobs fair to help connect people with training and job opportunities.

"With such a great opportunity to find out about local opportunities, as well as check jobs available right now, I encourage job seekers to come along," Mrs Brennan said.
