Spring is a busy time in the environment, boasting new foliage and flowers, and a flurry of activity among wildlife.
It's the perfect time to get outdoors as part of the Great Southern Bioblitz, a four-day citizen science event held between 24 - 27 October where observations of wildlife found in local parks, bushlands and reserves are uploaded to the iNaturalist platform to showcase our beautiful biodiversity.
There are several locations with rich biodiversity within Monash to help get you started with your observations:
- Valley Conservation Reserve
- Damper Creek Reserve
- Huntingdale Wetlands
- Jells Park
- Scotchman's Creek trail
Don't worry if you can't identify the organism, just make sure you upload some good clear photos or sounds.
The bioblitz is a wonderful opportunity to increase biodiversity awareness through citizen science.
We hope to see you out there helping to record the wonderful biodiversity in Monash.
