Joly to Host Greek Foreign Minister in Canada

Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will welcome Nikos Dendias, Greece's Minister of Foreign Affairs, to Ottawa, Ontario, and Montréal, Quebec, on March 15, 2023.

This visit will build on our countries' long history of bilateral engagement and will further solidify Greece as a strong, reliable partner of Canada in addressing the most pressing global challenges of our time.

The ministers will discuss the importance of transatlantic unity in support of Ukraine and maintaining pressure on the Russian regime. They will also exchange views on other foreign policy priorities, such as the importance of peaceful dialogue in the Eastern Mediterranean and the fight against climate change.

The Canada-Greece bilateral relationship is based upon shared values that unite our two peoples. The ministers will reaffirm these close people-to-people ties by meeting with Montréal-based Hellenic community groups and highlighting the importance of promoting enhanced bilateral trade and investment. Canadians of Greek origins have made countless contributions to our country, and Minister Joly looks forward to introducing Minister Dendias to members of Montreal's vibrant Greek community.
