Jonathan Pitts Chosen as National's Wellington North Candidate

The New Zealand National Party

Lawyer Jonathan Pitts has been selected by local party members as National's candidate for Wellington North.

Mr Pitts grew up in the United Kingdom and Japan before moving to New Zealand on his own for university. He is a corporate and commercial lawyer having worked as a senior associate for multiple law firms in Wellington and as a director for PwC.

"It is a privilege to be selected as National's candidate for Wellington North. I will be campaigning to re-elect a National Government that is focused on fixing the basics and building the future," Mr Pitts says.

"Under National, inflation is down from Labour's 32-year high, and interest rates have reduced which is saving Kiwis up to $10,000 on their mortgage. This careful economic management also means we are in the best position in years to deal with the war in Iran.

"The National-led Government's timely and targeted relief is helping support 143,000 families with a $50 per week boost until fuel prices return to normal. Home and community support workers are also receiving a temporary 30 per cent increase to their mileage rates so that New Zealanders continue to receive the care and support they need.

"Having lived all over the world, I am proud to call Wellington my home. Our city has so much potential that can only be realised with a National Government that is growing the economy to create jobs, lift wages and lower price increases.

"I'm ready to hit the ground running and campaign hard to re-elect a National Government and to represent Wellington North as its next National MP."
