Jump online and get involved with Youth Week

The Campbelltown Youth Week program has been revamped into an at home experience for its participants to still enjoy the games, art and competitions from Wednesday 1 April to Thursday 9 April.

Council has partnered with Headspace Campbelltown to run a social media competition for people to share their tips for keeping busy at home while social distancing. Entries can be submitted on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok with the hashtag #CampbelltownYouthWeek2020.

Headspace Campbelltown’s Youth Reference Group will be choosing the 10 most creative entries to be featured in an online resource for young people to help them through the COVID-19 situation.

Winners will also receive an electronic $50 VISA Gift Card.

Gaming enthusiasts can introduce the classic tabletop game, Dungeons and Dragons to their family and friends while they stay home with a free group pack from GameTraders Macarthur containing a set of dice, miniature figures, character sheets and two easy-to-follow adventures.

For young people with a flair for art, they can register for a free one on one brush lettering workshop with graphic artist YaMogu via Zoom. Participants who register will be provided their own brush markers and kits.

Throughout Youth Week, Council’s social media channels will profile the six local bands by posting their band profiles and a music video as a replacement for Sunset Sounds – Rock Edition.

“It’s important that we remain socially connected as a community and it is timely that this event will connect young people with others across our area with similar interests,” Mayor George Brticevic said.

“This is a fantastic example of how agile we need to be to support our community during this time and how we can revamp events using our digital platforms to keep our residents engaged,” Cr Brticevic said.
