Juveniles charged over armed robbery attempt and unlawful use offences, Gold Coast

Police have located and charged two boys in relation to an alleged armed robbery attempt at a service station at Miami yesterday morning, Queensland Police say.

Around 6.40am it is alleged a man was approached at the Gold Coast Highway service station by a group of boys one of which was armed with a knife. They indicated they wanted his vehicle and the man refused. The boys got back into a silver Subaru Forrester they had arrived in and drove off.

The silver Subaru had been stolen from Lakeview Terrace at Benowa on May 1, 2018.

Police also believe the two boys allegedly stole a white Nissan Navara from Alison Road on April 27, 2018. This vehicle was allegedly involved in a petrol drive off at a service station at Hooker Boulevard at Broadbeach Waters on April 28, 2018.

A 14-year-old boy from Carrara has been charged with attempted armed robbery, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one count of unlicensed driving.

A 17-year-old boy from Nerang has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count each of fraud, possession of a knife in a public place, dangerous operation of a vehicle, attempted armed robbery in company and assault police.

Investigations are ongoing.
