The Northern Territory Police Force is calling for information in relation to stolen motor vehicles in Katherine last night.
Around 11:40pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of two vehicles driving dangerously on the wrong side of the road and youths hanging out of the windows.
The offenders have been described as youths aged between 12 and 15 in appearance.
The stolen vehicles were identified as a Grey Toyota Landcruiser and a white Nissan Navara while a third vehicle, a Dodge Ram which was seen driving with its lights off, was also confirmed to have been stolen.
Around 12:20am, the Nissan was recovered abandoned in a park and towed for forensic analysis
Around 3:15am, police deployed tyre-deflation devices on the Landcruiser on Chambers Crescent.
A brief pursuit was engaged and the offending vehicle immediately stopped outside of the Katherine Police Station after crashing into a residential fence before multiple occupants fled the scene.
The vehicle was also recovered and towed for forensics.
No further sightings of the third vehicle have been reported.
Initial investigations found the vehicles were unlocked with their keys left inside and were stolen from a business on the Victoria Highway, Katherine.
Acting Superintendent Warren Scott said: "Strike Force Cerberus is working on this investigation as a priority to ensure those responsible are held to account for their actions.
"This incident also serves as a reminder for people to secure their vehicles to prevent this from happening.
"Securing your vehicle takes seconds and can prevent your car being stolen or property being taken."
