Kayak owner found safe at Port Kembla

The owner of a kayak, that was found overturned on Saturday (21 November 2020), has been found safe and well.

A member of the public found the unattended kayak floating in the water near Olympic Boulevarde at Port Kembla.

Concerns were raised for the owner and a search of the area was conducted by police and Surf Life Saving NSW.

Following a public appeal for help, a 35-year-old man from Lake Illawarra was identified as the owner of the kayak. The man told police he had become separated from the kayak when using it on Friday (20 November 2020).

Police would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance.
