Keeping People Moving Along Henty Highway

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is delivering major upgrades to Henty Highway in western Victoria, keeping regional Victorians connected to their families, jobs and schools as part of the $976 million road maintenance blitz.

Rehabilitation works are underway on a 7-kilometre section of the Henty Highway at Kewell, near Horsham, between Old Minyip Road and Barrat Road.

Crews will be out in coming months to rebuild the road and repair and strengthen the surface, delivering smoother, safer journeys for motorists and ensuring the highway gives locals, freight operators and visitors to the area smoother journeys.

Resurfacing works are also set to start for a 1.5 kilometre stretch of the Henty Highway at Kellalac.

This year's road maintenance program is focused on high-traffic corridors and key freight routes, including vital roads that connect communities across western Victoria.

All these roads were prioritised based on expert assessments and community feedback, ensuring that upgrades are focused where they're most needed.

Backed by a record $976 million Better Roads Blitz, crews are hard at work delivering hundreds of major maintenance projects on roads right across the state -70 per cent of all the funding going towards our regional roads.

As well as repairing some of our busiest roads, crews will also mow, slash and spray tens of thousands of kilometres of roadsides, inspect and repair thousands of bridges and other structures.

They'll also fix hundreds of sets of traffic lights and electronic signs, clean up graffiti and deliver other maintenance works as needed.

"Whether it's transporting goods or getting to work, these major repairs will make life easier for everyone in our community."
