Key upgrades at Kennett River on the Great Ocean Road are now complete, boosting safety and tourism ahead of this year's busy summer season.
The $3.8 million project includes updated public spaces, landscaping, paths, a new public toilet block and car parks.
The upgrades, which improve visits for tourists and enhance amenity for residents, were informed by consultation with locals.
The project supports sustainable visitation aligned with the small town's size and unique character.
It's part of a $676 million investment by all levels of government to unlock the economic potential of the Great Ocean Road region.
This includes projects to redevelop the Apollo Bay Harbour, Point Grey in Lorne, and the Twelve Apostles visitor precinct.
Further along the Great Ocean Road there are more projects to support economic activity, local businesses and tourism in the region.
In Lorne, a $12.59 million redevelopment of Point Grey is on track for completion this summer, delivering a new Angling and Aquatic Club building, co-op building with cafe and improved visitor facilities.
A $12.61 million redevelopment is also underway at Apollo Bay to update the harbour's Fisherman's Cooperative, add a new hospitality option, outdoor terrace and viewing deck, improve the precinct's car parks and connections, and return the wet fish market.
These infrastructure projects are a major investment in the local economies and communities of Victoria's famous Great Ocean Road region, which attracts about 7 million visitors each year.
