The countdown is on to one of the Hunter Valley's most vibrant celebrations of world-class wine, artisan produce, and the region's rich heritage, with Stomp Festival returning to Cessnock on Saturday 2nd August between 10am and 8pm, taking place for the first time on the grounds of TAFE NSW Cessnock.
Back by popular demand is the crowd-favourite grape stomping competition, and this year it's shaping up to be a stomping showdown, as reigning champions, the Khartoum Hotel, return to defend their title.
Now under new ownership and management, the iconic Kitchener pub is out to prove that a change in leadership doesn't mean a change in winning form.
The corporate grape stomping competition invites local businesses to get messy for the chance to win exciting prize packs and a bit of glory, with barrels of laughs guaranteed.
With humour and humility, owner of Khartoum Hotel Chris White, said that the Khartoum crew is ready for a little friendly rivalry.
"Win or lose, it's fantastic to be involved. It's a great community that we're a part of," said Mr White.
"To our fellow competitors, we say: look out! The champs are here."
Cessnock City Mayor Dan Watton said the event captures the essence of what makes Stomp Festival such a success: community spirit, regional pride and a lot of good fun.
"Events like the grape stomping competition highlight how our local business community is entwined with our community," said Clr Watton.
"It's wonderful to see much-loved local venues like the Khartoum Hotel getting involved again. Who can step up and take the crown?"
Held in the heart of wine country and with thousands expected to attend, Stomp Festival 2025 will showcase local wines, gourmet food, artisan markets, family-friendly entertainment and live music.
In addition to the corporate grape stomping competition, regular festival goers can sign up to the individual grape stomping competition. For full event details, and to buy tickets for the corporate and individual grape stomping competitions, visit the Stomp Festival website.
