Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate Khial Smith.
The 35-year-old man is wanted for questioning in relation to an aggravated burglary at a property on Maude Street in Shepparton about 12.30am on Saturday, 14 February.
Police are investigating after a man forced entry, started two small fires and threatened some of the occupants who disturbed him with a knife.
There were no physical injuries and the offender fled the scene.
Investigators have released an image of Smith in the hope that someone may be able to provide information on his current whereabouts.
He is Caucasian, of medium build with short brown hair.
He is known to frequent areas across the state including Melbourne, Ballarat, Rye, Shepparton and Echuca.
