Kings Meadows Man Charged After Carols Park Incident

Police have charged a 48‑year‑old Kings Meadows man with being unlawfully armed in public after an incident at the Carols in the Park event in City Park Launceston at approximately 5.45 pm on Sunday evening.

The man was arrested after he sat among a large crowd near the stage and produced a black‑handled knife approximately 30 centimetres in length. Members of the public who observed the weapon quickly moved away from the area.

Police responded immediately, and the man was taken into custody without further incident, and he was detained to appear before the court on Monday morning.

Nobody was physically injured in the incident and there was no further threat to anyone at the event.
