Kingston to welcome back visitors to its libraries, sport and recreation centres as restrictions ease
Kingston Council will start reopening our libraries and recreation centres to the community from Monday 9 November as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease across Victoria.
Community sport is also back in action in Kingston with cricket, baseball and athletics clubs all ready to open for their seasons. Tennis clubs and bowls clubs are now utilising their facilities as well.
Local sports grounds are also being booked up quickly for use by many sporting codes that traditionally play over winter, to train after months of lockdowns.
City of Kingston CEO Julie Reid said for safety reasons it won't be back to business as usual just yet as Council and our local sporting clubs will need to follow strict COVIDSafe plans, including around capacity and physical distancing, as well as the wearing of masks.
"We are really excited to be able to open up some of our libraries and sport and recreation facilities again to residents and visitors to Kingston, but safety is our main priority and we want to make sure we reopen in a staged way that allows people some access but doesn't create any additional risks", Ms Reid said.
From Monday 9 November, Parkdale, Chelsea, Clarinda and Cheltenham libraries will reopen on our Summer hours, for pre-booked visits by phone appointment only. Dingley and Patterson Lakes will open to the public from Monday 30 November.
All open branches will also offer a click and collect service and return chutes will be available at all nine library branches 24 hours a day.
