A Kirwan mother is celebrating her birthday early after an Instant Scratch-Its ticket delivered her a $100,000 top prize.
The Queensland resident's winning $5 Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased from Kirwan Post, News & Lotto, Shop 7, Parkside Plaza, 148 Bamford Lane, Kirwan.
The win comes not long after another Townsville success, where an Aitkenvale local took home a $100,000 top prize Instant Scratch-Its win.
When we spoke with the winning Kirwan woman, she was still speechless from her windfall.
"I'm very good today," she said.
"It's amazing news. It's my birthday soon, so I've started the celebrations early.
"I do play now and then. This time was completely random, but I guess I can count it as an early birthday present to myself.
"I was very shocked. I still don't even know what to say.
"It'll be a real help to my family and we can buy a car.
"Thank you so much."
Kirwan Post, News & Lotto co-owner Rachel Farrell said she was over the moon to hear the outlet had sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
"This is the first known major prize we've sold so we're super excited. We've only had the business since February last year," she said.
"I sold the winning ticket myself and helped our winning customer when she came back in to check it.
"Following on from a very recent division two syndicate win, we all know things often happen in three's so hopefully another customer will get lucky again soon.
"Everyone is very excited for our small business. When reflecting on our days selling Instant Scratch-Its and lottery tickets, you don't really take the time to contemplate how a significant win can impact someone's life.
"We are so thrilled to have now sold a major winning Instant Scratch-Its prize and we are definitely manifesting a division one lottery win!
