Kite Festival takes flight

NT Government

The skies of Cullen Bay will come to life this month for Darwin's first ever Kite Festival.

The free, family friendly event will be held on Sunday 24 September on the lawns of Cullen Bay.

It will feature more than 100 different types of kites - some as large as 30 metres.

The festival will also include kite-making workshops, public kite flying arenas, live music, roving entertainment, circus activities and more.

Talented kite experts from Kites Queensland are working with Activate Darwin to deliver the inaugural festival, which aims to become an annual fixture in the Northern Territory's event calendar.
