Knife possession charges at Augustine Heights, QLD

Police have charged a man following the alleged interference with a fire apparatus at Augustine Heights yesterday, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged about 3.15pm, Queensland Fire and Emergency Service Officers were called to a grass fire at Augustine Heights. Officers parked a fire truck on Mount Juillerat Drive and attended the neighbouring bushland to fight the fire.

At 3.30pm police attended Mount Juillerat Drive and observed a man at the rear of the fire truck interfering with the apparatus.

Police approached the man who produced a knife and metal bar. He was arrested without further incident.

A 27-year-old Springfield man has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place and interfere with fire apparatus.

He is expected to appear at the Ipswich Magistrates Court on December 15.

The origin of the fire is still been investigated and police are appealing for anyone who has CCTV or dashcam vision of the area around 3pm to contact Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information which could assist with this matter should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
