Knox Write Now - Creative Writing Competition

Applications are currently open for young people aged 10-18 years, who have a connection to Knox, to submit a short story into the Knox Write Now creative writing competition.

We are seeking submissions of short stories, or snippets/chapters of longer works, up to 3000 words in length. Applications are open in three categories:

  • 10-12 years
  • 13-15 years
  • 16-18 years

Knox Write Now provides an opportunity to celebrate and empower young people to pursue their writing dreams. Winners from each category will get the chance to see their writing published in a short story collection, which will be available to borrow from Knox Library - Ngarrgoo.

How to enter:

Entries must be submitted by 11.59pm on Monday 30 June.

Terms and Conditions:

Your entry must:

- Be your own original work - no AI, no fan-fiction

- Not exceed the maximum word limit of 3000 words

- No poetry will be accepted

- Only one entry per person.

Timeline:

1 May: Competition opens

30 June: Competition closes

24 September: Winners announced at a soiree afternoon

Term 4 2025: editing and collating short story collection

Late November/December (date TBC): Book launch.
