Kyneton Town Hall Glows Blue for Fallen Officers

This coming Monday night, 8 September, the Kyneton Town Hall will be lit in blue to honour the two brave police officers who tragically lost their lives whilst serving and protecting the community of Porepunkah.

The life of Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart was celebrated today. Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson, who grew up in nearby Bendigo, will be laid to rest on Monday.

Council extends its deepest sympathy to Victoria Police, family members and friends of each.

Mayor Dom Bonanno reflected on the importance of honouring these fallen officers.

"Our local police are pillars in our community and are the first people we call on in times of crisis. Their dedication, courage and commitment to keeping us safe, and the bravery that sits alongside that, is heroic," he said.

"Our thoughts are with the families, friends and colleagues of the two police officers who have so tragically died. Our thoughts are also with the third police officer injured in the incident, and more broadly with Victoria Police, whose officers continue their duties despite incredible grief."

Council remembers and acknowledges all Victorian Police officers who have lost their lives in service to our community.
