The Carroll Labor Government is helping Victorians bring down their bills - with practical support for people doing it tough and providing new ways for households to save on their energy bills.
Bring Your Bills Day
Victorians are getting free, face-to-face help at today's Bring Your Bills Day in Craigieburn.
Labor is backing these events with $1.5 million invested to expand the program across the state.
Developed by South East Community Links, the program connects Victorians with practical support for unpaid bills and debt, mortgages, credit cards, concessions, utility relief grants and energy, water and phone bills.
Since 2023, the program has helped more than 3,400 Victorians with more than $11 million in debt.
Three hours of free power starts this week
From Thursday, Victorian households will have another way to save on their energy bills.
The Midday Power Saver will provide eligible households with three hours of free power between 11am and 2pm.
Households could save between $149 and $428 a year by shifting electricity use into the free window.
Households with an electric vehicle could save up to $1,102 a year by charging during this period.
Victorians can make the most of the offer by running washing machines and dishwashers, using electric hot water, heating or cooling, or charging electric vehicles and home batteries between 11am and 2pm.
Eligible households with a smart meter can opt in through their electricity retailer and access up to 24 kilowatt-hours of no-cost electricity during the three-hour window each day.
