Labor needs to investigate leak of confidential complaint

Madeleine Ogilvie,Liberal Member for Clark

It is time for Labor to address why it will not investigate the leaking of a confidential complaint.

Ms White continues to refuse to answer questions over the Ben McGregor saga.

Mr McGregor said that the "leaking of the statutory declaration was to cause maximum damage to me as part of a campaign to hurt me and my political ambitions". *

Mr McGregor said "I am left feeling betrayed by the Party I have given many years of service to, I have been let down by Senior Members of the party who, for their own political motives, allowed this to happen.".

Did Ms White do her own due diligence on this matter, before making public comment?

Women need to feel confident that if they come forward with a complaint it will be handled appropriately, confidentially and fairly. Subjects of any complaint must also feel confident that they will be afforded natural justice.

It is important for all Tasmanians to know the confidentiality of complaints will be respected.

We cannot allow Ms White's failure to answer very simple questions to be simply swept under the carpet. This must be investigated.
