Labor welcomes new Deputy Police Commissioner

Tasmanian Labor

Tasmanian Labor welcomes Donna Adams' appointment as Tasmania Police's first female Deputy Commissioner.

Shadow Minister for Police, Fire & Emergency Management Michelle O'Byrne said Donna had a history of breaking down gender norms in the police force and this appointment was no different.

"Donna is a perfect candidate for Deputy Commissioner and on behalf of Tasmanian Labor I wish to congratulate her on this appointment," Ms O'Byrne said.

"Across her lengthy career with Tasmania Police, Donna has broken numerous gender barriers including becoming the highest ranked woman in Tasmania Police history when she became Assistant Commissioner in 2011.

"Donna is a role model for all young Tasmania's and her hard work and advocacy deserves to be recognised in a role such as this.

"Tasmanian Labor wishes Donna all the best as Deputy Commissioner and looks forward to her hard work continuing to inspire all Tasmanians."
