Labor wrong again on TAFE

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Education and Training

Labor are once again recycling their so called "free" TAFE deception which will not deliver a single additional training place for Tasmanians.

Labor's "free" TAFE policy is a hoax, as most placements and courses would not be free, their costings don't even come close to covering the course fees collected each year by TasTAFE.

A scaled-back TAFE would explain why Labor have made no commitment to upgrade buildings or facilities.

And Labor are trying to deceive Tasmanians again today with their claims around Drysdale.

Students are already studying at the Drysdale Claremont campus.

The new Drysdale Claremont training facility will be officially handed over in April, which is an amazing achievement given the impacts of COVID-19.

Labor need to stop talking down Tasmania's training industry, and instead support the Federal and State Liberal Government's $21 million JobTrainer Fund which is delivering up to 7000 additional free training places in full qualification and skills sets right now.

And that is in addition to the $85 million that we invest in TasTAFE annually.
