Victorians continue to pay the price of Labor's mismanagement as new data confirms Fire Rescue Victoria (FRV) has consistently failed to meet benchmark response times.
FRV data shows that on an annual basis the agency has missed its target of responding to 90 per cent of structural fires within seven minutes and 42 seconds every year since the agency was established in 2020.
This chronic underperformance is not a reflection on Victoria's professional firefighters, rather the result of the continued mismanagement and neglect of FRV by the Allan Labor Government.
Shadow Minister for Fire Rescue Victoria, Nick McGowan, said: "Our firefighters are absolute heroes who risk their lives daily, but they are being set up to fail by a state government that refuses to give them modern, reliable infrastructure and equipment.
"While population growth has absolutely exploded in our outer suburbs, Labor's fleet management has remained completely stagnant - meaning greater risks for residents and firefighters alike.
"We have frontline crews doing everything humanly possible to protect families, yet they are hamstrung by frequent mechanical breakdowns and a severe shortage of operational trucks. You cannot expect career fire fighters to meet strict government safety targets when the vehicles they rely on are constantly out of service or falling apart."
"Labor cannot manage money, cannot manage our emergency services and Victorians are paying the price."
