The Victorian Health Department's annual report published today has exposed ongoing systemic failures, with the government admitting that 55 performance measures did not achieve their target, including:
- Ambulance response times: only 65.3 per cent of Code 1 incidents were responded to within 15 minutes, well below the 85 per cent target.
- Ambulance patient transfers: only 67.7 per cent of ambulance patient transfers were handed over within the 40-minute target, well short of the 90 per cent target.
- Emergency Department waiting times: only 53.6 per cent of patients left the emergency department within four hours, missing the target of 75 per cent.
- Mental health delays: patients with mental health issues are experiencing long delays in emergency departments. Only 43 per cent of patients had a stay of less than four hours, against a target of 80 per cent.
Shadow Health Minister Georgie Crozier said: "Victorians are still facing unacceptable delays across the health system - from ambulance response times to emergency department delays and long waiting lists for vital planned surgery.
Labor's mismanagement of our health system has failed Victorians and it will only get worse as workforce shortages continue to plague the system because the Allan Labor Government has no long term health workforce plan.
"Labor can't manage money, they can't manage health and it's all Victorians who are paying the price."
