Labor's Massive Tax Slug Plan

Tasmanian Government

Tasmanians would be slugged an additional $2.7 billion in taxes under a Tasmanian Labor Government.

In the last session of Parliament Labor voted to legislate rates of own source revenues (taxes) well above existing rates and targets.

Analysis based on the current budget and forwards shows if Labor's plan was to go ahead, Tasmanian taxpayers would be set to pay over $2.7 billion in additional taxes by the end of 2027-28.

That's over $1.85 million per day!

Labor's tax hike announcement comes on the back of the Opposition Leader's plans to maximise the profits of Government businesses to boost the bottom line.

Boosting government business profits means charging Tasmanian households and businesses more.

With the 2025-26 State Budget due to be released this month, the Opposition Leader must release his alternative budget to let Tasmanians know who is going to be paying for his $1.85 million a day tax grab
