Lace up your runners for family-friendly event

Hit your fitness goals in time for this spring and sign up for Run Maroondah 2021.

Now is the time to prepare for this family-favourite event. Run Maroondah is all about challenging community members of all ages and abilities within a supportive environment, with distances including a 10km endurance run, a 5km run/walk and 1.2km kids run.

This year, the event will be held on Sunday 19 September and is the perfect opportunity to become more involved with your community, while committing to your personal health.

The Run Maroondah course begins at HE Parker Reserve in Heathmont and continues along the Dandenong Creek trail. Individuals and families are encouraged to take part.

Maroondah Mayor, Councillor Kylie Spears, said Run Maroondah could be the kick-start you need.

"Many of us are less active than we would like to be, particularly during the cooler winter months," Cr Spears said.

"You don't have to be a regular runner to participate. But, through signing up, this will help you to get moving. It doesn't matter if you're chasing a personal best time, or just there to spend quality time with the family, it's about having fun and giving it a go.

"Run Maroondah is about promoting the health of our community. The encouragement you will receive from the community is second to none."

To get your training on track, Maroondah is blessed with many running trails and even clubs who are ready to assist. Running with others is a great way to stay motivated, particularly during winter when it can be cold and wet.
