Landmark deal to benefit Tasmanian racing

Elise Archer,Minister for Racing

The announcement today of a lucrative new partnership deal between Tasracing and global racing players, Ladbrokes, is a major boost for Tasmanian racing.

The deal includes naming rights to Elwick, Mowbray and Spreyton racetracks, all three major cups as part of the Tasmanian Summer Thoroughbred Racing Carnival and other feature races across the greyhound, harness and thoroughbred racing codes.

The partnership will open up new marketing opportunities for clubs across all codes, while also allowing Tasracing to broaden its promotion to the national market.

The landmark deal further delivers on the Hodgman Majority Liberal Government's commitment to ensure Tasmania's racing industry continues to grow, with the economic benefits reaching far outside the track course.

Tasmania's racing industry injects around $103 million a year into the State's economy and supports jobs in rural and regional areas, with over 5,000 Tasmanians either employed or participating in the industry.
