A man has been arrested after police located a large amount of drugs and cash during an intercept in Derrimut last night.
Forming part of Operation United, officers were patrolling Mount Derrimut Road when they observed a black BMW allegedly travelling at high speeds about 9.30pm.
Officers intercepted the car and spoke with the male driver before locating a bag of ecstasy on the ground.
A subsequent search of the vehicle discovered what is believed to be GHB, methylamphetamine and a large amount of cash.
Officers arrested the man before Brimbank Divisional Response Unit detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Derrimut this morning.
A 38-year-old man has since been charged with traffick methylamphetamine, two counts of possess methylamphetamine, two counts of possess ecstasy, possess 1.4-butenediol and deal with proceeds of crime.
The Derrimut man will face Sunshine Magistrates' Court today.
The arrest forms part of Operation United, an operation targeting a range of high harm offences including robberies, aggravated burglaries, armed robberies, car jackings and assaults.
The operation kicked off in Melbourne's north west suburbs this week and brings together police from a range of units across the North West Metro Region (Division 3) and Crime Command as part of a joint effort to deter and disrupt an anticipated increase in a number of criminal offences as COVID-19 restrictions ease.
