Following a unanimous vote by Yarra Council, late fees will no longer be applied at Yarra Libraries from Sunday 1 September 2019.
We believe that the people who can least afford to pay late fees are often the ones who need the library service the most.
Abolishing fines will help vulnerable members of our community to get more involved in library life and to take advantage of the many great resources on offer without fear of getting a fine.
Greater turnover of books and other resources will lead to a better experience for all of our members.
