Fairfield City Council has officially unveiled The Canleys, Western Sydney's first Special Entertainment Precincts, set to transform Canley Heights and Canley Vale into vibrant night-time destinations that celebrate culture and entertainment while driving economic growth.

The precincts were selected by the NSW Government as part of its Special Entertainment Precincts program, with Canley Heights and Canley Vale also receiving the SEP Kickstart Grant to support delivery, activation and coordination of the precincts.

The initiative allows businesses to trade later, with extended hours until midnight on weekdays and 2am on weekends. This change is designed to support local businesses, encourage investment, and attract visitors from across Sydney, creating new opportunities for jobs and growth in the region.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said that the move marks a significant milestone for Fairfield City.

"The Canleys will breathe new life into our night-time economy," Mayor Carbone said.

"By creating spaces for live entertainment and extending trading hours we're giving local businesses the chance to thrive, and making Fairfield City a destination for people who want to experience great food, culture, and nightlife.

"This is about supporting jobs, boosting economic growth, and showcasing the incredible cultural diversity of Canley Heights and Canley Vale."

24-Hour Economy Commissioner Michael Rodrigues said Fairfield's Special Entertainment Precinct trials are also supported by Uptown District teams, Little Asia Canley Vale and Canley Heights Nights, enabling local businesses to work together and develop strategies that encourage people to come, stay and spend.

"I grew up in the South West of Sydney, enjoying the different eat streets. I would be chowing down banh-mi's after school in Fairfield and we'd often dine as a family together in Cabramatta. Many happy memories," Commissioner Rodrigues said.

"Locals have known about it for years, but it's been so exciting to see this area begin to make its mark on Sydney's cultural landscape. We hope the Special Entertainment Precinct approach, now backed by Council will bring more Sydneysiders and visitors to enjoy this area."

Beyond economic benefits, the precincts aim to foster community connection and showcase the area's rich cultural diversity through events and activations that bring people together.

Mayor Carbone said the Canley Heights Nights and Little Asia local business associations played an instrumental role in shaping the vision for The Canleys and ensuring it reflects the unique character of the area.

"We're proud to lead the way with this initiative alongside the two business associations Canley Heights Nights and Little Asia," he said.

"Their participation has been paramount in shaping a precinct that truly reflects our community's energy and cultural richness.

"The Canleys will stand as a vibrant hub for dining, entertainment, and connection, an experience people will want to return to time and time again."
