The Latrobe City Trust recently awarded the Lorraine Bartling OAM Scholarship in Nursing and or Social Work, acknowledging the hard work of the recipient, nursing student, Rebecca Plozza.

The scholarship was established to celebrate the contribution of Lorraine Bartling OAM to the field of nursing and social work within Latrobe City. The scholarship provides the awardee with a grant to further assist with the development of skills and qualifications within the nursing and social work fields.

The Latrobe City Trust is supported by Council in awarding this scholarship as nurses and social workers play an integral role in the health and wellbeing of the community, which is a priority of the continued improvement of Latrobe City.

Rebecca, a mother of three, is currently studying her third year of a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at Federation University and will use the funds to continue her education in Nursing. Mrs Plozza has said that it has been hard at times to study full time while providing for her family, but is doing this this to show her children that anything is possible, and it's never too late to achieve big things.

The scholarship was presented to Rebecca by Lorraine Bartling OAM accompanied by Latrobe City Trust Chair Diane Wilkinson, Latrobe City Mayor Councillor Graeme Middlemiss, and Latrobe City Council CEO Steven Piasente.
