On behalf of the United States of America and the American people, I want to congratulate the people of Latvia on the 107th anniversary of your Proclamation of Independence.
Latvia is a valued partner of the United States. For over 100 years, the United States and Latvia have worked together to expand trade, increase energy cooperation, and strengthen regional stability. As a model NATO Ally, we commend Latvia's pledge to meet the 5 percent of GDP defense spending commitment in 2026. Our alliance enhances global security and our shared values make Americans and Latvians safer and more prosperous.
As you commemorate the anniversary of your independence today, I wish all Latvians a successful year ahead.
