Graduate officers came together to build connections and exchange ideas with public sector professionals from different agencies and career levels.
How do you grow your network and find out who does what when you're starting out in the public sector?
The recent Launch event, Networking in Action, gave graduate officers from 19 agencies the opportunity to do just that.
Bringing together public sector staff and leaders from a range of agencies, the event helped graduates build connections across the sector.
For Stella Urquhart, a graduate officer from the Department of Education, the experience opened her eyes to what other agencies do and the projects they are working on.
"Meeting new people and hearing about their work helps you understand the value of different roles and opens up opportunities you may not have considered before," she said.
Communications skills were also put into practice, helping graduates gain confidence and a broader understanding of the people and roles that make up the sector.
Harry Sulley, also from the Department of Education, embraced the opportunity to get to know people from other agencies.
"I want to understand the depth of other people's roles and how interconnected all these different parts are when they come together," he said.
"You never know what you're going to hear from someone that could become a good idea or make you think differently about your own role."
The event was the third in the 10 month Launch program that builds the skills, confidence and cross agency connections of graduate officers.
"Launch is about setting graduates up to thrive in the public sector from the very start of their careers," said Rheanna Edwards who leads Launch for the Public Sector Commission.
Through Launch, graduates new to the sector learn from expert facilitators and take part in hands on activities, enabling them to make an impact from day one.
