Shadow Treasurer David O'Byrne today welcomed the Liberal Government's adoption of Labor's policy for a point of consumption tax.
"Peter Gutwein likes to dishonestly accuse Labor of not having any policies but he is blatantly ripping off our ideas," Mr O'Byrne said.
"Labor proposed the same $150,000 exemption for local bookmakers, however we committed to consulting extensively on the rate.
"What I would say to Peter Gutwein is lying about your opponents is not a policy, plagiarising their ideas is not a platform.
"We note that the Liberals have adopted a 15 per cent rate, which is at the higher end of the spectrum nationally. We hope the Liberals have consulted with industry to ensure there are no unintended adverse consequences as a result of the tax.
"If the Liberals were less interested in politics and more interested in investing in services, they would have adopted our policy years ago.
"Maybe the Liberals will now follow Labor's lead and take the opportunity to develop a green hydrogen export industry seriously."
