Leather-jacket scam, man charged - Casula

A man has been charged following an investigation into a leather-jacket scam across western Sydney.

In May 2020, officers from Liverpool City Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving information about a man allegedly purporting to be the marketing director of a major Italian fashion designer, selling fake leather jackets.

About 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 3 June 2020), police arrested a 54-year-old man in Revesby and a search warrant was executed at his unit in East Street at Five Dock.

Police seized 22 jackets, along with fake business cards and cash.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with seven counts of obtain financial advantage by deception and deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 4 June 2020).
