Lebanon: Over 250 Women Killed in Seven Weeks

UN Women

Beirut, 13 April 2026 - The mounting death toll of women and girls in Lebanon is horrific and underscores a profound failure to protect civilians in line with international humanitarian law.

According to the latest official reports, as of 12 April, at least 252 women have been killed and 1,120 injured since the escalation of hostilities on 2 March. 8 April marked the deadliest single day since the escalation, with at least 99 women among those killed, and 378 women among those injured. Additional bodies continue to be recovered from the rubble and identified in hospitals following intensified Israeli airstrikes.

UN Women reiterates its calls for de-escalation, protection of all civilians, unimpeded humanitarian access, gender-responsive humanitarian action, and for a lasting and just peace that upholds the rights, safety and dignity of all women and girls.

UN Women is on the ground in Lebanon, scaling up emergency livelihood and protection support, strengthening gender-responsive coordination, and working to ensure the humanitarian response and early recovery integrate women's needs, priorities and leadership.
