Brimbank City Council has started to replace over 4000 of Brimbank's streetlights on its major roads with more energy efficient LED lighting technology.
The $3.4 million project will be completed by late 2022 and deliver around $6 million saving in net energy, maintenance and repair costs over 20 years. It will result in a better, brighter quality of lighting on our busy major roads.
This project is a key action in Council's Climate Emergency Plan and Revised Greenhouse Reduction Strategy 2013-2023.
The Climate Emergency Plan commits Council to achieving zero net emissions by 2030 and this project is an important step in that direction.
The lights will be very efficient, very effective, and powered by 100% renewable electricity.
