The University of Leeds has continued its upward trajectory in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.
Leeds ranked joint 113th out of 2,297 universities worldwide in the 2027 rankings compared to 118th in the previous edition, an improvement of five places for the second consecutive year.
Professor Hai Sui Yu, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, said: "It's fantastic to see our continued progress in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
"Building on our strongest position for many years, this direction of travel reflects the hard work and dedication of colleagues across the University and the strength of our teaching and research."
Securing an overall score of 65.5, Leeds is joint 13th out of 109 UK institutions.
The annual THE World University Rankings are generated from five 'pillars': teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook.
The highest scored pillar for Leeds was international outlook, with a very strong overall score of 93.2. Meanwhile, Leeds is ranked 11th in the UK for research environment and 14th for teaching.

The University rose nine places to 77th in the latest QS World University Rankings, strengthening its position among the world's top 100 universities.

The University saw a rise of four places in the 2027 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide and is now ranked 22nd, up from 26th in the 2026 edition.

The University moved up three places to 18th in the latest Complete University Guide rankings.

Leeds ranked 20th in the 2027 edition of the Daily Mail University Guide.

Leeds retained its place in the world's most international universities, ranking 31st globally in Times Higher Education's Most International Universities in the World 2026.
- The University achieved its highest ever position in the 2026 QS Sustainability Rankings, placing 24th out of 2,002 universities worldwide and joint ninth in the UK.
