Leeton Shire Council is pleased to announce the return of the Leeton SunRice Festival this Easter, with the spectacular Hot Air Balloon Fiesta once again set to headline the much-anticipated biennial event.

From Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April 2026, the skies above Leeton will come alive with colour as up to 20 hot air balloons are expected to take flight across the region. Launches scheduled at sunrise and sunset will offer breathtaking views of the Riverina landscape, attracting balloonists, visitors and spectators from across the country.

Hot Air Ballooning remains a signature attraction of the festival, with commercial passenger flights available through Picture This Ballooning, giving visitors the opportunity to experience Leeton Shire's agricultural heartland from above.

Leeton Shire Council Mayor, Cr George Weston, said the SunRice Festival is a highlight of the community calendar and an important opportunity to showcase the region.

"The Leeton SunRice Festival is a wonderful celebration of our community, our agricultural heritage and the industries that have shaped our region. The hot air balloons create a spectacular sight across our skies and provide a unique experience that draws visitors from near and far," the Mayor said.

The popular MicrotechDPS Balloon Glow will again light up the evening sky, featuring illuminated balloons, live entertainment, twilight markets and family-friendly activities. Supported by MicrotechDPS, the event will be held at Leeton's No. 1 Oval and is expected to draw large crowds.

In addition to the Hot Air Ballooning and Balloon Glow, the festival program includes events celebrating the region's culture, food and community spirit. Highlights are The Irrigator's Street Parade, Festival on Mountford, Leeton's Longest Lunch, Open Gardens and the Festival Ambassador Competition.

The Leeton SunRice Festival recognises the important role of agriculture and the rice industry in the development and continued success of the region, with the festival proudly supported by SunRice, a cornerstone of Leeton's economy and one of Australia's leading food exporters.

The festival is expected to attract more than 10,000 attendees across the weekend and reinforces Leeton's reputation as one of regional Australia's most vibrant and welcoming destinations.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend and experience the colour, excitement and community pride that define the Leeton SunRice Festival.
