Legacy Of Lines: Profound Exhibition By Carly Marchment

Kempsey Shire Council

The Nulla Nulla Regional Gallery is proud to present Legacy of Lines, a deeply moving and masterful solo exhibition by Crescent Head artist Carly Marchment.

Exhibition opening

Saturday 13 September

10am – 11am (Gallery open until 2pm)

Free Entry | Light refreshments provided | All welcome

This powerful collection of oil paintings and charcoal drawings offers an unflinching and tender insight into Carly's evolving journey with a degenerative disability. As her physical capabilities change, so too does her art — shifting techniques, reinventing tools, and embracing each mark as both an act of defiance and a record of resilience.

Born in the Macleay Valley and now an award-winning artist based in Crescent Head, Carly's practice has long explored the relationship between body, space, and the emotional terrain of disability. Her work speaks to inaccessibility, discrimination, and the raw beauty of adaptation — all with bold colour, expressive line, and striking intimacy.

This is Carly's first solo show in a regional gallery and a significant milestone for her career. The Gallery has proudly supported her through the development process, including assisting in funding applications, and we're thrilled to host this exhibition as a celebration of talent, diversity, and the strength of community artists.

Why visit

Legacy of Lines is not just a gallery experience — it is a glimpse into the ongoing story of an artist who paints against time. As her mobility decreases, so too does her ability to create. Every piece in this exhibition is, quite literally, irreplaceable.

Visitors to the opening will have the opportunity to meet Carly and speak with her one-on-one. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to stay and enjoy the exhibition after the formalities.

Exhibition dates
