It's time to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games team members at Burleigh this weekend.

The homecoming ceremony will take place on the beach across from Burleigh SLSC, followed by a free sausage sizzle at Mowbray Park.

Mayor Tom Tate said there will be live music and a chance to grab autographs and photos with the Queensland team members.

"Let's celebrate one of our most successful Commonwealth Games yet with the Aussies bringing home a total of 67 gold, 57 silver and 54 bronze medals," Mayor Tate said.

"There's something special about meeting your heroes in person and we'll be fortunate enough to have gold and silver medallist Georgia Godwin, silver medallist Serena Bonnell and many more team members joining us. When Australia won its 1,000th gold medal after the Diamonds beat Jamaica on the netball court, it gave us all 1,000 reasons to smile.

"This was history in the making and now we have the opportunity to celebrate Australia's success in person. I hope to see hundreds of locals there, donning the green and gold."
