As Tasmanians brace themselves for a $500 rise in their electricity bill this year, the last thing they need is yet another golden handshake an energy executive.
Tasmania's second-worst ever Energy Minister, Guy Barnett, has so far been silent on the sudden departure of Bess Clark.
Ms Clark has been an active promoter of the project throughout its slow progress, including admitting Tasmania would likely only receive around six per cent of the project's benefits.
Today, it's been announced she is leaving immediately and the Minister is nowhere to be seen.
Ms Clark follows former Executive Ben White, who left only weeks ago, out the door.
The Government is projecting a spend of $250 million just to get Marinus to investment decision. Part of that will be yet another redundancy.
This is on top of payments to Hydro, Aurora and TasNetworks Executives over the past 18 months' worth well over $5 million.
So, Guy Barnett should just be honest. How much did he pay Bess Clark to leave?
