The Hodgman Government is failing to plan for the future and failing to deliver infrastructure that will improve the lives of Tasmanians and set our state up for the future, Shadow Infrastructure Minister David O'Byrne said.
The Liberals and Infrastructure Minister Jeremy Rockliff promised to release a 30-year infrastructure strategy before the end of 2018, then it was delayed until March and now it won't be delivered this financial year.
"The Liberals are proving once again that they are a do-nothing government, just happy to be in power while Tasmanians cop years of wasted opportunities," Mr O'Byrne said.
"The airport roundabout is emblematic of the Liberals' all talk and no action attitude to infrastructure.
"Labor has called on Minister Rockliff to get serious about building the infrastructure Tasmania needs by detailing funds in this year's Budget.
"Despite 87 per cent of Tasmanians saying traffic is getting worse under the Liberals, the government has failed to deliver serious upgrades to roads and our public transport network.
"People in Launceston still have to put up with raw sewage flowing into the Tamar River, despite multiple promises this will be fixed.
"Jobs are at risk in the mining, forestry and tourism industries but the government has failed to detail funding timelines for vital improvements at the Ports of Burnie, Devonport, Bell Bay and Hobart.
"And the Liberals have shown no sign of backing Labor's plan for a Centre of Excellent in Agriculture in the North-West or building a new high school in the fast growing northern suburbs of Hobart.
"Hobart's Macquarie Point, the greatest city-building opportunity for the capital in a generation, has gone nowhere during five years of Liberal Government.
"The Liberals infrastructure agenda has been blighted by delays and laziness.
"The Liberals have left it up to the RACT to do the hard yards while there's been no action from Minister Rockliff's office. He needs to get to work before the 30-year strategy is again delayed."
