The Liberal Government's list of infrastructure failures is growing with the Bridgewater Bridge dumped from Infrastructure Australia's high priority list.
Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, David O'Byrne, said the Liberal Government had clearly botched the business case for the vital project.
"The Liberals missed their own deadline for submitting a business case for the project and now it appears that business case was deficient," Mr O'Byrne said.
"This project is far too important to be jeopardised by a government that has failed to deliver a single major infrastructure project in five years.
"It is particularly concerning to hear that there are unresolved engineering and design issues that could result in further cost blow outs.
"Infrastructure Australia has requested a revised proposal that addresses these risks - the Government needs to explain whether it intends to comply with this request.
"The Liberals have been boastful about the bridge as the centrepiece of their infrastructure strategy and now Infrastructure Australia is raising fundamental questions about the engineering, design and maintenance of the project.
"It is little wonder that Jeremy Rockliff dumped the infrastructure portfolio at his first opportunity.
"New Infrastructure Minister, Michael Ferguson, must come clean today about what these issues are, how much they will cost and where the money will come from when the state is already heading for $1.1 billion in debt.
"There are now serious questions about whether the project will meet the 2025 completion date, which has already blown out from the original target of 2024."
