Linfox supplies free shipping containers for flood recovery effort

Townsville City Council has welcomed the donation of up to 30 shipping containers to store property from flood-affected businesses.

Logistics company, Linfox, has donated the 40-foot containers to help Townsville recover.

Townsville Mayor Jenny Hill said the containers are a welcome sight for businesses.

"Linfox is transporting the containers via rail from Brisbane for store owners and businesses to store their property for up to six months," Cr Hill said.

"It's an amazing gesture by Linfox and a welcome boost for stressed business owners and charities."

Townsville Recovery and Resilience Group Chair Deputy Mayor Les Walker said the containers are only available to businesses affected by the floods.

"There's going to be strong demand for free storage space and it will be a case of first in, best dressed, Cr Walker said.

"It's great to see a major company throw its support behind the community after a massive weather event."

The delivery of the containers is being done by Linfox in consultation with Townsville City Council.
