Literacy Advisory Panel opens for Expressions of Interest

Jeremy Rockliff,Acting Premier

Expressions of Interest have opened for the Literacy Advisory Panel as part of the Tasmanian Liberal Government's plan to improve education outcomes.

We recognise that education is the single most powerful driver for improving economic and social outcomes in Tasmania including health, life expectancy, happiness and productivity.

In March this year, the Government announced that an expert advisory panel would be established to oversee the development of a community-wide framework to achieve a Literate Tasmania.

The Literacy Advisory Panel will be co-chaired by the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Jenny Gale, and the Director of the Peter Underwood Centre for Educational Attainment, Professor Natalie Brown.

The Panel will review current literacy programs and supports across the community and make recommendations for improvement of our approach to working towards achieving our aspirational goal of 100 per cent functional literacy in Tasmania.

Information about the range of skills and expertise sought and how to apply is available on the Department of Premier and Cabinet Website.
