Little River impound

State Highway Patrol officers were left stunned after intercepting a car in Little River Sunday afternoon.

Officers were patrolling the Princes Freeway when they noticed a Mercedes AMG travelling 172km/h in a 100km/h zone.

The car was intercepted and the driver, a 27-year-old woman, was spoken to.

Police determined that the driver did have a valid reason for travel, but not at those speeds.

The vehicle, which the owner had only had for one week, was impounded for 30 days with towing costs of $1006.10.

The Point Cook woman is expected to be charged on summons with exceed speed limit, speed dangerous and other traffic offences.
